Hypnagogic State, 2025 - Copy.jpg

Welcome. I am a multidisciplinary artist based in London, working across painting, photography, 3D objects, and installation. I explore the spaces where boundaries blur. Each piece invites you to pause and discover the beauty of transition, fragility, and possibility.

About Susana Cerezuela

My practice is led by ideas rather than by a single medium. While painting, sculpture and installation form the core of my work, I also work with photography, sound and other media when they best serve the ideas I am exploring. Through these different forms, I investigate moments of transition and transformation, exploring experiences that are often difficult to put into words, such as uncertainty, grief, healing and hope.

I combine human and natural forms to create hybrid figures and environments that exist between states, reflecting the continuous process of change. I am interested in the spaces between what something was and what it is becoming, where identities shift and new possibilities emerge.

Process is central to my practice. I work intuitively, allowing materials to react, evolve and transform as the work develops. Rather than trying to fully control the outcome, I respond to accidents and unexpected changes, seeing them as part of the creative process. This way of working has become a way of practising acceptance, recognising uncertainty and transformation as inherent parts of life.

Making is how I think. Through the process of creating, I begin to understand emotions and experiences that are difficult to articulate. I aim to create work that invites viewers to slow down, reflect and connect with their own experiences of change and transformation.

Through this practice, I aim to create spaces where viewers can encounter the beauty, discomfort, and quiet clarity that emerge within moments of transition.
