About Susana Cerezuela
My practice moves between painting, sculptural objects, and installation, combining human and natural forms to create hybrid figures that exist between states. I am drawn to moments of transition—spaces of ambiguity and liminality where boundaries soften and identities shift. These in-between states offer a way to reflect on vulnerability alongside possibility.
Process plays a central role in how my work develops. Working intuitively, I respond to accidents, disruptions, and unexpected changes as they arise, treating them as integral rather than resistant elements. This approach has become a way of practising acceptance, recognising transformation, uncertainty, and loss as inherent aspects of life.
Conceptually, my work engages with duality, impermanence, and the tension between holding on and letting go. Influenced by Nietzsche’s idea of eternal recurrence, I understand change as cyclical rather than linear—a continual process of return and renewal.
Through this practice, I aim to create spaces where viewers can encounter the beauty, discomfort, and quiet clarity that emerge within moments of transition.
